AM Project and TJAD win the first prize at the international competition for SID1 in Shanghai

AM Project and TJAD (Tongji Architectural Design Institute) win the first prize at international competition to design the new International Design Center in Shanghai. The new complex will be built at the campus of Tongji University in Shanghai's Yangpu District. Works will begin in October. The Italian-Chinese AM-TJAD team will be located in Tongji University and, starting from the concept developed by AM Project, will develop the final project by implementing the changes required by the client until the executive and management jobs.
The concept developed by Joseph Pasquale and AM project team met with a favorable opinion of the selection board with an approach based on cultural sustainability, which combines Chinese tradition and Western and Italian one, and environmental sustainability, adopting solutions to save energy and reduce environmental impact. The new complex has a overlapping layered structure containing among others, a hotel, a museum, library and business premises and offices. The landmark building will be the the Marco Polo Gate, a large door facing west, simbol of the internationality of the new complex. The Design Gardens and tge shopping gallery, named after Matteo Ricci will be the other qualifying areas of the new fund, a real meeting point of connection between the campus and the urban fabric.
